We are excited to announce that Malcolm Payne has joined the Social Sciences ADNetwork Scientific and Professional Panel. Malcolm is a leading expert in critical social work theory and practice. He has published extensively on a range of topics, including social justice, anti-oppressive practice, and the application of social work theory to real-world problems.
Malcolm Payne is an academic and writer in the field of social work. He is best known for his textbook Modern Social Work Theory, which is in its fourth edition. He is also the author of several other books and articles on social work theory and practice.
Payne was born in 1947 and studied social work at the University of York. He then worked as a social worker in London before moving into academia. He taught at the University of East Anglia and the University of Manchester, where he was a Professor of Community Studies.
He was previously Director of Psychosocial and Spiritual Care at St Christopher’s Hospice, London. He has held academic posts at the University of Bristol, Manchester Metropolitan University, Opole University Poland and Comenius University, Bratislava, Slovakia. He has honorary appointments at the Department of Social Policy, Helsinki University and the School of Social Care Sciences, Kingston University.
